Wayne Arlen Loland was born on April 1, 1942 to Myrtle Loland in St. Paul,MN. He was raised in Cottonwood, MN. He graduated from high school in 1960. He attended Hibbing Junior college and St Olaf in Northfield. He then entered the United States Army on March 18, 1964.

His first award was a good conduct medal. To no one's surprise, he was also an Expert with the M-14 rifle. His last duty assignment and major command was HQ Co.  809th Engineering Battalion at Camp Charn-Sinthope, Thailand. He was honorably discharged February 28, 1970 after his Army Reserve obligation was finished. 

Wayne married Gail Femrite in Montevideo, MN on November 6, 1964. And on March 22, 1974, their daughter Amy was born. 

Wayne loved all things outdoors but mostly hunting, fishing, camping, and cruising Lake Superior on their boat, the Amy D.

In his professional career he was with: Hamm's Brewery in research and development, served as assistant city administrator in Stillwater, MN, at Lampert Lumber Company in Insurance and Payroll, and finished his career with the IRS where he retired in 2005.

Wayne died at 8:20 a.m. on 8-20-2024 after fighting stage 4 pancreatic cancer. He was preceded in death by his mom, Myrtle, favorite uncle Oscar Loland, nephews Luke and Taylor Philiph, and close friends and family, Torch and Sandy Hocum, and Weldy and Deanna Hodge. He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years Gail (Femrite), daughter Amy and her husband Brandon Zavada, and the Miller, Femrite, Hocum and Philiph families. He will be deeply missed.

Memorial Service Monday September 16 at 1:00pm with visitation from 12:00-1:00pm at Sandberg Funeral Home, 2593 E. 7th Ave, North St. Paul, MN 55109
