Wayne L. O’Hern, Jr. On July 14 died at Halquist Memorial Hospice in Arlington, VA. Wayne is survived by a son, Sean; a daughter, Shannon; a sister, Kathie; a brother, David; and four grand children. Wayne will be remembered as a person who was devoted to his family, his friends, and his country. After graduating from Virginia Military Institute in 1963, he joined the U.S. Air Force. He earned his doctorate degree from Texas A&M and retired at the rank of Colonel in 1986. He spent his remaining working years in support of national defense issues in the Washington DC area. Wayne was considered a brilliant man by his associates and a caring, warm-hearted, and loyal individual by his friends. He loved his Irish heritage and was quick to join in on good times. A man of great diversity and interests, he will be missed by a variety of people who enjoyed his presence and vitality. Wayne will be buried with full military honors in Arlington National Cemetery. A gathering of friends and family will be held that same week at a place and date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested contributions be made to either Foundry Methodist Church or Halquist Hospice Center.
