Obituary Wendy Joy Sandberg was born in a small town in southeastern Colorado to her very welcoming parents, Marvin Sandberg (now deceased) and Lolabelle Sandberg.Wendy was a very happy little girl who had great fun playing outdoors with her older sisters, Nancy and Laura. After several moves, sister Amy joined the family, and they eventually found a larger home in Fort Collins where the family grew up. Wendy attended Irish Elementary School, Lincoln Jr. High and then Poudre High School in Fort Collins. She became active in sports and band beginning in junior high and began playing the trumpet. While in high school, she played tennis and was in several different bands. She spent the summer months golfing, often with her dad, and the winter weekends skiing or snowmobiling with friends or family. After a day of skiing the family would stop in Idaho Springs for pizza where they would recount the days adventures and laugh; everything Wendy did involved lots of laughter. Most 4thof Julys, the family would gather for a day of waterskiing and an evening of fireworks. But whatever activity Wendy participated in, she would give it her all flying over moguls, or zooming up the sides of hills in a snowmobile or motorcycle. She loved going fast and taking risks. After high school, she moved to California and attended Westmont College in Santa Barbara, CA, while always working part time. The summer of 1984, Wendy was able to attend a summer abroad semester. She travelled to the Netherlands, Leningrad and Moscow in Russia, Germany, London, Paris, and Switzerland. She then returned to Westmont College for her senior year and graduation, but with a newly developed love of traveling. She eventually travelled to Bali and Tahiti and many other European countries as well. Wendy then began her career as a business woman. She initially worked with a developing computer company called Warren and Selbert. She eventually left them to begin her own businesses. She formed a partnership selling paper and office supplies which became very successful in Los Angeles, then left that and moved to Albuquerque, NM to co-found a company that sold gourmet popcorn. She helped to manage that successful business for over 20 years, and helped form a secondary business that sold mechanical labeling machines for small companies world-wide. While in Albuquerque, she spent many years at the Balloon Fiesta and encouraged friends and family to go with her, which they often did. She rode in balloons herself several times. Wendy was a beautiful person who was always determined to live every day to the fullest. Every morning she woke up and would say, This is the day the Lord hath made. She had an amazing sense of humor and loved to laugh, with a wide smile always on her face. Her joy, humor, and zest for life will live on with the rest of us forever. Wendy is survived by her mother Lolabelle Sandberg; sisters Nancy Sandberg, Laura Bustos and Amy Stuemky; two nieces, a nephew and 2 aunts; and her beloved companion dog.
