Wilbur Ray Hensley
May 13th, 1936 - January 27th, 2016
Kingsport- Wilbur Ray Hensley, 79, of Bloomingdale passed away on January 27, 2016 at his home. He was born May 13, 1936 to the late Isaac B. and Pearl Faulk Hensley. He was a graduate of Ketron High School and a member of Vermont United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S Navy and employed at Eastman for 32 years, retired in 1992, and known as "Oogie". Wilbur enjoyed his family, working in his garden, fishing and UT Vols. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brother, Charles Hensley; sister, Shirley Hensley. Wilbur is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carlene Larkins Hensley; son, David Hensley and wife, Phyllis; daughters, Martha Tisdale and husband, Jim, Linda S. Hicks, Brenda Calton and husband, Chris, and Vicki McConnell and fiancé Richard Quillen; 10 grandchildren, Chris Tisdale, Jennifer McConnell Williams, Travis Hensley, Michael Tisdale, Adam Hensley, Jared Calton, Sarah McConnell, Amy Hicks, Joshua Hensley, and L'Cee Wallace; 5 great-grandchildren, that were his pride and joy, Riley, Bentley, Alaina, Raylee and Trinity; brothers, Doyle, Joe (Mary), and Paul Hensley; sister, Norma Hensley. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga Street, Kingsport or friends may also call anytime at the residence. A service will be held at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Craig Needham and Rev. Christie Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be his 6 grandsons. In lieu of flowers please memorials may be sent to Vermont United Methodist Church, 1817 Bloomingdale Road, Kingsport, TN 37660. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport is serving the Hensley family.
