Funeral Alternatives of Washington - Tumwater
Willard "Bud" Morris
November 5th, 1940 - April 28th, 2016
Bud passed away on April 28, 2016 at Legacy Emanuel Hospital, Portland, Oregon, surrounded by his family. He was born November 5, 1940 to Wid and Violet Morris. A graduate from White Pass High School, the day after graduation he went to work for two old widow ladies on a farm. In 1959, he went to work as a log truck driver for Lawrence Peters, then on to Cotton Brothers, followed by PLS for 37 years until they closed down. He retired from working for Buck Nalley in 2002. He put more miles in his log truck and hauling heavy equipment around this county in the years he worked than most of us will ever do in a lifetime. He was known for his strong work ethic; he never quit. After he retired, he was known for saying that he couldn’t believe how busy he was being retired, that he didn’t know how he had found time to work all those years. In July 1960, he married Deloris Asbury and they had a son, Ed. In September 1990, Bud married Barbara and gained daughters, Lisa and Becky, and Barb gained a son, Eddie. All the children were considered “their” kids, not stepchildren. A lifelong Lewis County resident, Bud never really knew a stranger; if he didn’t know you personally, he probably knew your sibling or cousin who married this person who drove a certain vehicle. From farming, building, running anything with a motor, or being there to lend a helping hand, he was truly a jack of all trades. He taught more than one generation that a few cuss words thrown out will help make a nail go in straight. He was not one to mince words; you knew where you stood with him. He was opinionated, stubborn, colorful, hard-working, tough as nails, and a big family man. He had a lifelong interest in horses, riding in the mountains, camping and being around his family. Barb called Bud her dream maker; she would come up with an idea and he would take off with it and build it. He was one who loved to tell stories of the past, sometimes repeatedly. He also loved his family and friends; his horse, Mouse; and his dog, Clyde. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; son, Eddie (Tammy) Morris; daughters, Rosie (Ed) Mayes, Lisa (Wayne) Magarro and Becca (Gerald) Spalding; granddaughters, Kimberly (Matt) Morris and Lashawna Wolfe; grandsons, Kody (Brittney) Morris, Tyler Spalding, Jacob Spalding; great granddaughters, Trina Wolfe and Bacardi Mullins; great grandson, Evan Wolfe and Eddie Morris; sisters, Penny (Dave) Green, Theresa Scott, Julie Morris; and brother, Dennis Morris. He also had a warm spot in his heart for special people, Kelly (Tracy) Koher, Lonnie (Desi and boys) Cureton, Clayton Swim, John Morrison, Lonnie (Diane) Cureton, and Macario (Gaby) Tolentino. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wid and Violet Morris; and sister, Ana Mae Love. Please leave memories of Bud or condolences for his family in the Guestbook below.
