William M. Adkins (Bill), passed away on February 7, 2021 of complications from pancreatic cancer at age 82. He was born October 7, 1938 in Mason City, Iowa to Marvin P. Adkins and Irene B. Adkins. Bill attended Mason City High School. After graduating high school Bill joined the U. S. Navy. After leaving the Navy he went back to Mason City where he married his wife Beverly Peterson. Bill loved telling stories and jokes. He could (and would) strike up a conversation with anyone. Bill also loved fishing and more fishing. Whenever he spoke with a friend or his brother, he would always say “I want to go fishing” even if it was snowing outside. He is preceded in death by his parents Marvin and Irene Adkins and his sister Dixie Monaghan. He is survived by his wife Beverly of 59 ½ years; brother Larry (Cathy) and sister Della Wendel. His little loves were his great nieces Charleigh and Avery. His nephew Tim was his skydiving buddy. He is also survived by many sisters in- law and brothers in-law; nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews whom he also loved. His neighbors Dennis and Sandy and Dan and Dawn as well as former neighbors Jerry and Trudy were always special to him and Bev. And last but certainly not least his very special cats, Tinker, Molly, Precious and Howie. They meant the world to him. Due to Covid-19 restrictions there will be a private burial at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, Denver, CO. A Celebration of Life will be held later this spring when Covid-19 restrictions ease up.
