William Nelson Boyd
February 14th, 1949 - October 1st, 2017
William (Bill) Boyd died peacefully surrounded by family in Tucson, Arizona on October 1, 2017 at the age of 68. He fought a courageous battle against the horrible disease ALS. Bill is survived by his spouse, Chaluay (Noi) of 46 years, his son, Michael (Stacie), daughter, Susan (Sean) and his 5 grandchildren, Ellen, Mikayla, Brody, Jake and Alora, who were his true joy in life. He is also survived by 3 sisters, Sherry, Ann, and Patty, and by many nephews and nieces. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, William and Ann of Tucson, Arizona. Bill was born on February 14, 1949 in Hammond, Indiana to William and Ann Boyd. He graduated from Tucson High School in 1967. He proudly served our country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam war as a B52 mechanic. While stationed at U-Tapao Air Base, Thailand, he met the love of his life, Noi. They were married in Thailand in 1971. Bill spent many years working for the University of Arizona where he retired as a facilities management supervisor. Bill's favorite things to do (outside of drinking beer and Crown Royal) were to go fishing, photography, learn about the cosmos, and watch Tucson's beautiful lightning storms. He was a die-hard Arizona Wildcat fan and will always be remembered as an unapologetic bad ass. He will be greatly missed. A graveside service is scheduled for Friday, October 6th at 12:00 pm. The service will be held at the Arizona Veterans' Memorial Cemetery at Marana.
