Flahiff Funeral Chapels & Crematory-Caldwell
William Dean Campbell
September 7th, 1939 - January 7th, 2024
William (Bill) Dean Campbell, beloved son, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend, passed away on Jan. 7, 2024, at the age of 84 in Meridian, ID. Bill was born in Ontario, Oregon to William Lloyd and Willy Carletta Campbell, and preceded in death by his parents and his brother Leon. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Evelyn (Pat) Campbell and his brother Larry (Chris). He will be missed by his six children: Joe, Teresa (Jeff) Pino, Kenny (Kassie), Billy, Patti (Curt) Guiles, and Chris (Lindsay) as well as his 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Bill was raised on a dairy farm on the Oregon Slope. He and his brothers milked cows and performed other tasks on the farm before going to school each day. He married the love of his life, Evelyn Walker on October 29, 1960, and were inseparable, except when duty called. Bill joined the Army in 1961 and together they traveled the world. The family lived in Virginia, Texas, Washington, Alabama, Georgia, Idaho, Arizona, Oregon, and Germany. Bill served two tours in Vietnam and retired in 1981, after serving his country for 20 years. The family moved back to Idaho and Bill returned to college, graduating from Boise State in 1985 with a degree in Business Administration. He worked with Micron for several years, but he and Pat wanted to travel. Bill drove long haul trucks for several companies, crisscrossing the country multiple times, with Pat as his co-pilot, until he retired in 2004. Traveling was a passion of theirs with favorite places including Alaska, Hawaii, Scotland and Ireland. Their six adult children have fond memories of Sunday drives, and camping and fishing anytime the family could get away. While they did not always enjoy being uprooted with each Army move, they look back with an awareness of how much was gained by these experiences. A celebration of his life will be held at Flahiff Funeral Chapel on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. The family would like to send heartfelt gratitude to the staff at both Edgewoods in Meridian who took care of Bill over the last 2 years and to the angels who work at Idaho Home & Hospice.
