William "Bill" R. Chamberland
September 28th, 1953 - April 3rd, 2008
William Roger Chamberland (Bill), age 54, was born September 28, 1953, in Olympia and died at his home in Olympia on April 3, 2008, after a 2 ½ year journey with Thymic Carcinoma.He began his education in Adana, Turkey where he lived for 2 years and then 2 years in Holyoke, Massachusetts before returning to Olympia, graduating from Olympia High School in 1971 and St. Martin’s University in 1975. After college he worked for the Department of Revenue and Washington State Lottery. Bill had many interests including mountain and rock climbing, camping trips with family and friends. He had a quirky sense of humor and thoroughly enjoyed a good pun. Bill was well respected by his peers and co-workers. He was a person who not only talked the talk but walked the walk of living as a Christian. Survivors include his wife Susan of Olympia; children, Demry (Josef) McCoy of Olympia, Nathan (Jamie) Beard of Bellingham, Craig (Krystal) Chamberland, Meredith (Olivia) Soileau, and Alayna Chamberland, all of Olympia; his mother, Mary Helen Pothier of Lacey; sisters, Cathy English (Allen Rooker), Tenino and Linda (Brooke) Alquire of Olympia; and two grandchildren, Jaclyn and Raistlin McCoy. Preceding him in death was his step-father Cecil “Bob” Pothier. In lieu of Flowers, donations may be made to the William Chamberland Memorial Scholarship for St. Martin’s University, through any Bank of America branch.
