Nicks, William Charles ?Bill?, 47, of St. Petersburg died Friday Dec. 8, 2000 at Bayfront Medical Center emergency room of heart failure. Born in Tampa at MacDill Air Force Base, he resided in St. Petersburg his entire life. He attended Woodlawn Elementary and Meadowlawn Junior High School and graduated from St. Petersburg High School. As a youth, he participated in the Knights of Columbus Youth Football Program and was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout at St. Paul?s. He was a professional estimator in the printing and metal industries. He also was employed by and a partner in Janet Mittendorf?s Skin Care Plus in St. Petersburg, a family business. He was a professional dog handler and a founder of the first guard dog service in Pinellas County. He loved to fish. He was Catholic. Survivors include his mother: Janet Mittendorf Izzo ? St. Petersburg; father: Ernest R. Nicks ? Vero Beach, FL; two children: Ashley Marie Nicks and William Charles Nicks ? both of St. Petersburg; a stepson: James Corcoran ? St. Petersburg; a sister: Christine Adcock-Mecham ? St. Petersburg; and a brother: Frederick Robitschek ? Satellite Beach, FL. In lieu of flowers, family prefers memorial donations to St. Petersburg Public Library, c/o Business Office, 280 - 5th St. North, St. Petersburg, FL 33701 designated for ''North Branch Library - Children's Department''.
