William "Bill" A Cummens
May 9th, 1928 - July 24th, 2015
William A. "Bill" Cummens of Waukesha died peacefully on Friday, July 24, 2015, surrounded by his family at the age of 87 years, at Seasons Hospice, Waukesha, WI. William Atkins Cummens was born in Minneapolis, MN the son of Kenneth Anfin Cummens and Ella Evangeline Atkins. He grew up in Ortonville and Clara City, MN. Bill served in the US Army in Japan. On September 22, 1951 Bill married Dorothy Jean Tammen in Clara City, MN. He graduated from the University of Minnesota in civil engineering in 1952. Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Dorothy; sister, Barbara Gresbrink; children, Michael (Nancy), Timothy (Linda), Cathy (Jack) Martin, Jack, Patricia (Scott Edmond), Mary (Dan) Mroczenski, Meg (Vince) Kennedy; grandchildren, Moriah (Ben) Simpson, Will Hunter (Megan) Cummens, Breana Cummens, Jason Martin, Anna Cummens, Scott Cummens, Matthew Edmond, Jacob Edmond, Vincent Kennedy, Joseph Kennedy; great granddaughter, Josephine Simpson. Preceded in death by his brother, Ralph. Bill founded CTW Corporation, now a third generation well and pump contracting business in 1972 and remained active in the business to the end. The one thing he was not good at was retirement. Bill and Dorothy celebrated their love of family with a 50th wedding anniversary trip to Ireland with all 26 family members to explore their roots and create new memories. Bill had a big heart, a great sense of humor and a tremendous handshake. He was an avid fisherman and hunter with 50 annual goose hunting trips to Saskatchewan. He was a longtime friend of Bill W. The family wishes to thank Dr. Elangovan, Dr. Wittmann and the wonderful staff at the Heart Failure Clinic at Waukesha Memorial Hospital. A visitation for Bill will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2015, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at St Anthony on the Lake Catholic Church, W280 N2101 Prospect Ave. Pewaukee, WI 53172. A second visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at St Anthony on the Lake Catholic Church from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 12:00 p.m. Noon. Private internment at a later date. Donations would be welcomed in Bill's name to the Salvation Army Waukesha Center, 445 Madison St. Waukesha, WI 53186 or Hebron House of Hospitality, 111 E. Main St., Waukesha, WI 53186.
