William James Cunning, Jr.
June 4th, 1944 - March 9th, 2020
William James Cunning Jr. (Jimbo) born June 4th, 1944 passed away Monday, March 9th 2020. Jim was a man who took great pride in his family heritage and origins tracing back to 600 A.D. His family founded the "West End Pottery Company" from 1898 to 1939. From 1967 to 1984 Jim served in the US Military Army as a UH-1 Pilot during the Vietnam war where he received many honors. Once his time in the military was complete, Jim started his journey into CPA, later becoming the 43rd registered NC Licensed Accountant. He loved Tai Chi and could often be seen working to achieve Master Level Tai Chi with Leon Johnson. In his retirement, he joined Black-Phillips American Legion Post 433 and Cabarrus County Veterans Honor Guard. Jim was the loving husband of Betty Perry Cunning. He will be missed as a brother, father, stepfather, grandfather and, great grandfather. Military Funeral and Celebration of Life will be held: Saturday, March 28th, 2020 at 2:00 pm at the Black-Phillips American Legion Post 433, 127975 Cabarrus Station Road, Midland, NC. Memorial contributions may be made in Jim's honor to Hospice and Palliative care of Cabarrus County, NC.
