William Paul Day

William Paul Day, 66, succumbed to his illness and passed away 12/7/14 at Tidwell Hospice, Port Charlotte, FL. Bill, as he was fondly known, was born to the late Clayton and Doris Day, 6/12/48, at the 98th General Army Hospital in Munich, Germany. Bill graduated from Forest Hills HS, West Palm Beach, FL, obtained his BA from Saint Leo College, Saint Leo, FL, and his MA in Administration from Central Michigan University, Mount Pleasant, MI. Bill was a Captain in the U.S. Air Force (ret.) and a decorated Vietnam Veteran. He was a computer programmer who also loved physical exercise. In his younger years he was a triathlete who did several century bike rides. Even late into his life, Bill rode his bike upwards of 20 miles a day. He will be remembered as healthy, active, and strong by his friends and family. Bill was an outgoing, fun-loving person who was often the life and center of the party. He could tell a joke or a funny story like no one else. Bill retired early and spent several years traveling the globe on many a cruise. He enjoyed his life to the fullest. Bill is survived by and will be greatly missed by his wife, Mary, his children, Adrianne and James, and his siblings, Judith, Joseph, and Bonnie. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Bill's honor to the military or Veteran's organization of your choice. Bill will be laid to rest at the Sarasota National VA Cemetery on Friday, January 9, 2015 at 1 PM. Englewood Community Funeral Home with Private Crematory has been selected to handle arrangements.
