William “Dickie” Hall, 64, of New Harbor, Maine passed away peacefully in his sleep after a courageous battle with lung cancer on the morning of May 21, 2016. Dickie moved back home from Bradenton, Florida earlier this month. Born on August 29, 1951, he was the son of William (Billy) Hall & Ramona Sawyer. Dickie grew up in Round Pond and attended local schools & the University of Maine, Orono. He started playing lead guitar at the age of 14. During his earlier guitar years, many of the bands he played in enjoyed jamming in the family barn on the Back Shore Road in Round Pond. This always attracted many locals as well as other fellow musicians to the door yard. People living in the town would open their doors and windows to listen and enjoy the music flowing from the barn. Dickie loved playing music for people and chatting with them during breaks. He always had kind words to say to, and about, everyone. After moving to Florida over 30 years ago, Dickie continued to play music locally. He was an accomplished guitarist and member of local bands such as The Royal Shaft and Ellsworth & Co., playing at various venues throughout Sarasota and Bradenton. Dickie joined Griffith-Cline Funeral Home in Bradenton, FL in 2003 as a Funeral Associate, Courier, and Building & Grounds Supervisor. He became like family to the staff he worked with over the course of the last 13 years. He was predeceased by his father Billy Hall; step-father Kenneth Sawyer; and half sister Karen Meyers. He is survived by his mother Ramona Sawyer of New Harbor; sister Cyndy Sheppard; nieces Sarah and Jessica Sheppard of Florida; sister Pammy Hall-Gaeth and husband Rick of Wiscasset; nephew Alex Gaeth; great-niece Sydney Gaeth of Rockport; niece Brittany Carter and husband Chris; great-niece Emily Carter of Nobleboro; niece Jessica Meyers and husband Ryan Cilbrith; great-niece Alanna Cilbrith; and great-nephew Brayden Cilbrith of New Hampshire. Dickie will be sadly missed by all that he touched and will forever be cherished for all the fond memories he left in everyone's heart.
