William DuganA memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 16, at the First United Methodist Church in Eugene for William “Bill” Dugan of Eugene, who died Sept. 9 of respiratory failure. He was 89.Visitation will be from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene.He was born June 30, 1922, in Summerfield, Kan., to James and Elizabeth Boyer Dugan. He married Alice Peck in 1950 in Tekamah, Neb.He attended Reed College and Harvard University and graduated from the University of Oregon with a bachelor of science degree in architecture.Later, he received a master’s degree in education.During World War II, he served in the meteorology corps of the U.S. Army Air Forces.He worked as a teacher and then as principal of Bailey Hill, Gilham and Edgewood elementary schools.Survivors include his wife; three sons, Gregory of Indianapolis, Stuart of Lacey, Wash., and Bryce of Portland; and two grandchildren.A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Rest-Haven Memorial Park in Eugene. Remembrances to First United Methodist Church or First Christian Church.
