December 11th, 1923 - August 31st, 2012

William W. Ekberg, born December 11, 1923 in Reydon, Oklahoma, passed away Friday, August 31, 2012. Will married Billie Dee Sorensen on May 17, 1948, enjoying 64 years of marriage. He is survived by four children; William Dee, John Hadley, Jeffrey Mason, and Lacey Alynne; 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Will graduated high school from Parma, then served in the South Pacific during World War II as a proud Marine. He returned from service to become a rancher and farmer in the Caldwell area, where he was the recipient of many farming awards. When the community was in need, he always answered the call to help. Will enjoyed spending time with his great grandchildren the last few years, teaching all the grandkids to ride horses, care for animals, and enjoy life. He will be remembered for his quiet and loving way, sharing his talent for woodworking and his strong pride as a Marine. The Ekberg family would like to invite all friends and family to enjoy a short open house at Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell on Thursday, September 6, 2012, 1:30PM to help us celebrate Will's enjoyment of life. I am saddened by the loss of a great friend. Will was an inspiration of leadership as a child, and a great joy to serve him as an adult. I will miss his smile and sarcasism. Thank you Will for your service to our community, for your instructions to me in life matters, and your love of life. You were a great man, and friend. I will see you later. Your friend, Jeffrey Roberts.

I am very sorry to hear about Wilbur''s passing. So much of my childhood had to do with Grandma taking me to Billie and Wilburs. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
