William J. Fish

William J. ?Bill? Fish, 90, of VanEpps Road, Fultonville, passed away Saturday, May 19, 2007 at St. Mary?s Hospital in Amsterdam. He was born in Auriesville, NY on March 29, 1917 son of the late Paul and Susan Quinn Fish. Bill was a life resident and attended school in the Fultonville area. He served as an Aviation Chief Electrician?s Mate in the US NAVY during WWII from 1942 to 1945. Before entering the NAVY, Bill worked as a Police Officer for the NYS Department of Conservation in Glens Falls. Following his separation from the NAVY, he worked as a Montgomery County Sherriff?s Deputy and then as a claims director for Metro North Commuter Railroad in New York City. He married the former Agnes M. Hernigle on June 26, 1943 at St. Joseph?s Cathedral in SanDiego, CA. Bill was an active member of the Fulton-Montgomery Masons, a former member of the American Legion and a communicant of St. Cecilia?s Roman Catholic Church in Fonda. He leaves behind his loving wife of 64 years, Agnes M. Fish of Fultonville, members of his extended Hernigle family and many dear friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at St. Cecilia?s Roman Catholic Church in Fonda followed by interment in the parish cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends from 5:00PM to 7:00PM on Monday, May 21, at Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville, NY. Donations in Bill?s memory may be made to the Frothingham Free Library, Main Street, Fonda, NY 12068 or to a charity of one?s choice.
