William "Bill" Galligan
July 18th, 2012
Loving husband, dad, brother, grandpa, and great-grandpa. Lifelong resident of St. Paul, passed away on July 18, at the age of 92. He was an outstanding athlete, earning 11 letters at Cretin HS and was inducted into the Cretin Hall of Fame. Bill went on to play for the Gophers Hockey Team until he enlisted in the Navy during WWII. He played professional hockey for the St. Paul Saints, owned several small businesses and later went on to work for Ramsey County. Preceded in death by parents and brother Dr. John (Bud) Galligan. Survived by loving wife of 68 years, Cecilia; daughters Mary Catherine (Ron) Bushlack and Therese (Chris) Semlak; sisters Betty Galligan and Jean Downing; 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday (7/21) 10 AM at Church of Saint Joseph, 1154 Seminole Ave., West St. Paul. Visitation ½ hour prior to service. Bill loved his family, his faith, sports and was proud of his Irish heritage.
