William John Greenheck
January 5th, 1923 - May 25th, 2009
William John Greenheck, 86, of Mill Creek, WA died Mon., May 25 at his home. He was the son of the late William Greenheck and Katherine Zanzinger. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Bernard and Arnold. Bill grew up in Lone Rock, Wisconsin and Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin where he graduated from High School in 1940. In 1943, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps and served in WWII as a radio operator on B-17 planes. He flew 34 missions over Germany in 1945. Bill graduated from Marquette University, Milwaukee, WI in 1949 with a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering. He and his brothers founded the Greenheck Fan Corp. in Wausau, WI in 1947. He helped design products and started their computer testing program for fan blades at the U.W. School of Engineering in the early 1960s. Bill worked at the Boeing Co. for 27 years. Boeing sent him to Munich, Germany in 1965 where he moved with his family for 1 1/2 yrs. He loved reminiscing about time spent in Europe. Bill is survived by his wife of 59 years, the former Therese Donovan of Tomah, WI. He is also survived by his brother, Robert of Wausau, WI and his sisters, Rita Garland also of Wausau and Carole Black of Minneapolis; His eight children: Stephen of Gig Harbor, WA, William T. of Gig Harbor. Douglas of Fontana, CA, Julianne Mezs of Bellevue, WA, Mary P. of Mill Creek, Michael of Auburn, WA, David of Sammamish, WA, and Daniel of San Diego; twenty grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive Bill.In lieu of sending flowers, remembrances to the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Snohomish County, WA would be appreciated.
