William Halsey

January 21st, 1951 - October 1st, 2020

Obituary William "Bill" Halsey passed away peacefully in his sleep the morning of October 1st, 2020 after fighting a long illness in Loveland, Colorado. He was 69 years old. Bill was born on January 21st, 1951 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He grew up in Lafayette, Colorado and spent most of his life in Boulder County. He worked for over 30 years in quality control management for Centerline Circuits, and in later years for Advanced Circuits, Magnelab, and Sound Surgical before retirement. Bill was very active in Alcoholics Anonymous and Al-Anon, and was able to celebrate 32 years of sobriety. He cared very deeply for others, and his humble mentorship helped innumerable individuals. He worked the program everyday and gave his undying support to anyone who was needing help and guidance in their sobriety. Bill had dedicated several years of his life as a martial artist practicing the art of KunTao Silat under renowned and master trainers. He had fond memories of getting to spar with highly skilled practitioners, along with building a brotherhood that turned into a lifetime of friendships. Bill's greatest joy was his time spent with family, and he adored his granddaughters more than anything. He was well known for his humble nature and incredible sense of humor. Many of us who spent time with Bill have fond memories of laughter and bowls of ice cream shared. Even through tough times, he always found the good in everything and everyone. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, John and Clarice "Tot" Halsey, brother John Fauerbach and sisters Freda Distefano and Jayne Larkin. He is survived by his daughter Kaitlynn Hermanson (Loren), granddaughters Vesper and Dagny, step-daughter Amy Jacques, step-son Robert Bolstad, as well as many extended family members and dear friends. In lieu of flowers, Bill's wishes were for donations made to the Longmont Humane Society. I loved every moment spent with Bill. He was the most honorable, strong, kind, loving person I ever had the privilege of meeting and becoming friends with. He always made laugh, feel loved and helped me stay sober. He called them God nudges— all the wisdom, insight and love he shared with me came from God and we both knew it. I am forever grateful that he listened to those God nudges and shared all of them with me. I don’t have one favorite memory but many. Reading to him, listening to his wisdom, laughing at his jokes or times he would correct my grammar, eating ice cream with him, hearing him say, “sleep as snug as a bug in a rug”, (saying he was told when he was a kid) his stubborn moments that also made me laugh, the many times he told me he loved me, watching him with his daughter and granddaughters, (his eyes lit up and he was the happiest and most peaceful with them) taking pictures of all of his tattoos to document each meaning for Kaitlynn, watching him love Rue, hearing him read his favorite page from the Big book, (page 28) and simply the look of love and comfort he gave to me always. I love you Bill with all my heart and soul. I will cherish every memory with you. You taught me to be kinder, to love harder, to say what I feel, to love myself, to stay sober, to laugh more, to be more compassionate and to be in the moment. Just be, just in this very moment right now. Thank you Bill. Thank you God for blessing all of us with this amazing person. I know you needed him back. Thank you for giving him to us for as long as you did. Love, Robyn
