William "Bill" Thomas Harkness
April 5th, 1947 - September 15th, 2015
William Thomas Harkness "Bill" died peacefully, surrounded by family on September 15, 2015 at the age of 68. He was born on April 5th, 1947 in Trenton, NJ to William Downs Harkness and Jean Smith. Bill is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Harkness; daughter, Kara Harkness and spouse, Lee Carter; daughter, Jennifer Cinadr and spouse, Matthew Cinadr; brother, David Harkness and spouse Betty-Ann Harkness; brother, Michael Harkness and spouse, Donna Harkness; brother-in-law Chris Wode, spouse Laura Wode; sister-in law Maureen Hinson, mother -in- law Kathleen Wode and his nieces and nephews. He graduated from Ryder Technical School with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Bill served in the US Navy as a Communication Operator while attached to the Special Security Office from 1968-1972 earning both the National Defense Service Medal and Joint Service Commendation Medal. He married Peggy his high school sweetheart in 1969. Bill retired from TRW in 2002 after 30 years as a Manufacturing Manager. Bill was a devoted husband, loving father, son and brother. Bill was an avid reader, who loved political discussions, good music, food and company. Bill was hilariously funny, generous, and kind. He passionately loved all creatures, especially his dogs. He taught his daughters unconditional love. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Bill's life. The family would like to thank the caregivers at Carolina's Medical Center (CMC) Intensive Care Unit for their efforts and care for Bill.
