William Richard “Bill” “Billyboy” Hartley, age 54, was born April 8, 1970,

in Boise, Idaho. He passed away in Boise County on July 20, 2024. He is the third son and fifth child of Leonard L. and Valois Braithwaite Hartley. In his younger years, he lived in Boise, Melba, and Meridian, St George, Utah, Santiago, Chile, then back to St. George, Boise, Brazil, and Meridian. He graduated from Borah High School and Boise State University with a bachelor’s degree in Applied Science and Business.

During his education, he developed a lifelong passion for financial investing and spent many happy hours expanding his knowledge and portfolio in market fund strategies.

He honorably served 8 years in the Idaho National Guard and a 2 year mission for his church in Sao Paulo, Brazil. He was trilingual, speaking his native English as well as fluency in Spanish and Portuguese.

In his own words, his occupational journey began by feeding calves at Boots Cox Dairy, then newspaper delivery, then customer service at Buttrey Food & Drug, and then worked as a customer service trainer at Albertsons. He became an administrative specialist in the Idaho Army National Guard. Upon returning from his mission in Brazil, he became an underwriter at Hartley Insurance with his family. In 1992 he became an electronics technician for Micron and really enjoyed his 17 years until the company downsized, transitioning to his work at Scentsy as a Maintenance Technician in 2009, bringing his expertise and dedication.

Bill enjoyed a number of hobbies; gardening, especially flowers, shopping at Costco weekly, bike riding and walking the Nature Center. He had numerous friends at both work and his singles groups and so enjoyed their love and friendship. He will be sorely missed.

Bill is survived by his two sons, Hayden, and daughter in law Tamsin of Arizona, and Heath of North Dakota. He also leaves behind, siblings Marilyn Thueson (Gail), Leonard Hartley Jr. (Melissa), Douglas Hartley (Shelly) Bonnie Cottrell (Bill), and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by both parents.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 3rd, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS chapel at 3775 E. Ustick Rd. Meridian, Idaho. Burial will be at Morris Hill Cemetery in Boise.
