"Palmer - William "Ed" E. Hawk, Jr., 86, of the Bondsville section of Palmer, passed away surrounded by his loving family on August 10, 2014. Born May 11, 1928 in Glenfield, NY, he was the son of William E. Sr. and Fern (Holland) Hawk. Living in Palmer since 1965, Ed previously resided in NY. He proudly served his country in the US Navy during WWII and worked for many years at Zeros as a punch press operator. In his leisure, Ed enjoyed horseshoes, hunting, fishing, playing pitch, cribbage and watching birds. Even though he was from NY, he was an avid Red Sox Fan. Ed will be greatly missed by his wife of 62 years, Marguerite (Laney) along with their nine children, James Hawk and wife Carol of Warren, Terry Hawk and wife Lillian of Bondsville, Randy Hawk and wife Francine of Belchertown, Wayne Hawk and wife Selma of Three Rivers, Ricky Hawk and wife Sheila of Brimfield, Timothy Hawk of Palmer, Linda Anderson and husband Rick of Bondsville, Sandra Knowlton and husband Michael of Springfield, and Barbara O'Keefe and husband Sean of Thorndike along with 18 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and one on the way. Ed also is survived by his siblings, Beverly Young of FL, Jack Hawk of NC, Suzanne Cobb of NY, Polly Farney of NY, Patrick Hawk of FL and four legged companion Chachi. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Martin Hawk, Bernice Bauer, Eugene Hawk, and Wanda Wetmore. Visitation will be on Friday from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home. The family wishes to invite everyone to St. Joe's Club in Thorndike immediately following the visitation to continue sharing the stories and memories of Edward. Donations may be made to Wing Hospital, 42 Wright St. Palmer, MA 01069 or charity of ones choice."
