William Duane Hernandez, 76, passed away peacefully on Sunday; May 8, 2011. A wonderful husband and father, ""Bill"" always put his family first. He was born in Jersey City, New Jersey on July 17, 1934 to Lorieta Ellsworth Hernandez and Dr. Manuel Hernandez. He is survived by his wife, Maria Galluccio Hernandez. They were blessed with five children Maria Greco, Donna Hernandez, William M. Hernandez, Gina Clark (Steven), and Dr. Lori Bogdan (Dr. Joseph); twelve wonderful grandchildren, including one little angel, and one great granddaughter. Bill attended Newark Academy for prep school and the University of Pennsylvania. He retired from the State of New Jersey in 1999 and spent his retirement in Baytree, Florida. He previously held positions with Duncan Thecker Associates and the Belmar Police Department. For many years Bill was an usher at St. Rose Church, Belmar, New Jersey and he served as a volunteer Fireman and Captain of the Belmar Hook and Ladder Company. He was a volunteer coach for Youth and High School Basketball and Soccer for many years. He was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church, Viera, Florida. Visitation will be at O'Brien's Funeral Home, Wall, New Jersey on Friday, May 13, 2011 from 7 till 9P.M. and a funeral mass will be held at St. Rose Church, Belmar, New Jersey on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 9:30A.M. Interment will be at St. Catherine's Cemetery, Sea Girt, New Jersey following the funeral mass. A Memorial Service will be held at St John the Evangelist Catholic Church on Saturday, June 5, 2012 at 11:30AM as this will be the first year aniversity of his death.
