William Green Hightower
October 12th, 1940 - June 16th, 2024
William "Bill" Green Hightower passed away peacefully and he was 83 years old.
He was born in Washington, D.C. to the late Emory A. Hightower (Mayor of Palmer Lake) and Genevieve Green.
He was an avid Drum & Bugle Corp enthusiast, and a member of the National Buglers' Hall of Fame and the Sunrisers' Drum and Bugle Corps Hall of Fame. During his Drum Corp activities, he served as Judge, Instructor, and Music Arranger for numerous units in the East and Midwest. William received his Juris Doctor Degree at the School of Law from Queens College in New York. He retired from the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit in New York and moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1994.
He is survived by his wife, Carroll Dorrell Hightower, who is a ceramics artist and instructor (with honorable mentions) and a pianist. He is also survived by his sisters, Gail R. Brown of New York, who is a retired Educator, and Doris A. Hightower of New Jersey, who is an Attorney. Other survivors include his children, Teresa and William; a grandchild; several nieces and nephews; and other beloved family and friends.
William was preceded in death by his sister, Carole Hightower-Taylor.
