William Austin Hunter Jr. November 27, 1950 – April 30, 2024
William "Bill" Austin Hunter Jr., aged 73, passed away peacefully at his home on April 30, 2024. Born on November 27, 1950, in Virginia, Bill spent most of his life in Albuquerque and Denver, where he enjoyed being near family and friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife Annette, his sons Wyatt and Wade, his parents William and Ethel, and his siblings David and Dawn. He is survived by his sons William Hunter III and David Hunter, his sister Billie, his cousin Valerie, and his three grandchildren: Macey, Addison, and Mia. Though his family has faced loss, they have also shared moments of love and laughter, keeping his memory alive.
Following in his father's footsteps, Bill had a brief stint in the Air Force. He transitioned to a career in logging and telephone line installation, and later he ran an in-home elderly care business with Annette. In the latter part of his career, he worked in gun sales at Cabela's and Jax, where he developed a reputation for his friendly service and sharp knowledge.
Bill's greatest passions included hunting with his friends and sons, along with cheering for the Denver Broncos, where he held season tickets with his sister Billie and his son David. An enthusiastic sports fan, he also found joy in coaching his son David in little league and high school baseball, earning him the respect and friendship of countless families in the community.
Despite his rugged exterior, Bill had a heart of gold and a dry, great sense of humor. He was the kind of man who would go to great lengths for those he loved, always ready with a joke or a helping hand. His generosity and commitment to family and friends were defining features of his life.
A service to honor Bill's life will be held at Ft. Logan National Cemetery on Thursday, June 6th at 10:30 am, where family and friends will gather to honor his legacy. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit will live on in the stories and memories shared by those who knew him best.
