William “Bill” T. Knapik, 91, of Las Vegas, passed away on October 26, 2016. Bill was born July 28, 1925 in Shamokin, PA to the late Thomas J. Knapik, Sr. and the late Pauline Hudach. He was one of six children. Bill was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Marine Corp. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1951. As a civilian, Bill worked for the U.S. Navy Department in Arlington, VA, receiving many awards in the Electrical Engineering Department over 31 years. He then retired in Las Vegas, NV living in Pahrump and Spring Valley. Bill is survived by two sisters, Rita Walker of Hillsboro, NJ and Louise Startzel of Easton, PA; nephews Deron Startzel and David (Clara) Startzel and their three daughters; Brother-In-Law Eugene (Anna-Marie) Humphrey; Sister-In-Law Ella Humphrey, five nephews and their families. Bill is preceded in death by his wife of 47 years Dawn; sisters Marie Knapik, Regina Bresland; and brother Thomas Knapik, Jr. The families sincerely want to thank friends Diane and Ann, along with everyone at Heritage Springs Assisted Living for all the wonderful care and support given to Bill and Dawn while living at Heritage Springs, as well as Nevada Community Hospice. Funeral service and interment will take place on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at 11:20am at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City, NV 89005.
