MAGERS, William Perry, 71, died May 9, 2009, in Tampa, Florida, of natural causes, after a short illness. Magers, a retired educator, was born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and had moved to Tampa two years ago, after having lived in Miami for thirty years. Magers, a graduate of Purvis High School, attended Pearl River Community College, Hinds Community College, and the University of Southern Mississippi, before graduating from Florida Atlantic University, where he received a B.A and M.A. degrees. He worked in the Miami-Dade School System for twenty years, counseling both adults and students, until he retired to sail on the Greta, his handmade sailboat. Magers is survived by his brother, T.
