William Jacob Maier (Bill), age 93, passed peacefully at his home on 23 February 2024. Bill was born in Lebanon, Pennsylvania on 7 September 1930, the son of Jacob and Anna Maier. He graduated from Lebanon Catholic High on May 1948 and enlisted in the U. S. Air Force in September 1948. While on active duty he served in Japan, Louisiana, Bermuda, Germany, New York, and Turkey before his final assignment at Patrick Air Force Base where he retired in 1969. While serving in Bermuda he met his future wife, Wanda Brzozowski. They were married in June 1955 and remained together for 52 years and raised five children. Upon retirement from the U. S. Air Force Bill joined Radiation Inc in Palm Bay which eventually became Harris Corporation. While at Harris he completed his undergraduate education earning a BS in Economics from Rollins College. He served in a series of progressively more responsible positions at Harris ultimately becoming a Director of Corporate Human Resources in 1987. While at Harris Bill served on the board of the Brevard County United Way. Bill retired from Harris in 1992 and he and Wanda traveled extensively across the United States, Canada, and Mexico in their RV. They later bought a condo in the Keys and enjoyed time relaxing with their children and grandchildren. Bill was an avid golfer, enjoyed sailing his boat on the Banana River, making half-hull models, creating stained-glass art, and genealogical research. Bill will also be remembered for his volunteer work in the community where he assisted retirees with their benefits at the Patrick AFB Retirees Activity Office, teaching computer classes at the Schecter Center, and volunteering at the Daily Bread. Bill was predeceased by his parents, sisters Josephine and Dorethy, brother James, and wife Wanda. He is survived by his son Michael and his partner Sheri Jorgensen, son Jeffery and his wife Cheryl (Toner), son Roger and his wife Erika (Swenson), son Patrick, daughter JoAnn (Maier) Marrell and her fiancé Chuck Swan, grandchildren Corey and his wife Sasha (Trudell), Courtney and her fiancé Quentin Spilker, Indigo, Kameron, and great grandchildren Riley, Rowan, and Rivers. The funeral will be held at Patrick Space Force Base Capehart Chapel at 10:00 am on 2 March 2024. Beach Funeral Home, Indian Harbor Beach is in charge of arrangements. Bill will be interned beside his wife Wanda at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to Hospice of Health First.
