William "Bill" McGuire
June 3rd, 1942 - October 23rd, 2019
William “Bill” McGuire, 77, of Rockledge was preceded in death by his parents, John “Pa” and Margaret “Nana” McGuire, sister Maureen Connors and brothers John “Mack” and Michael “Mickey” McGuire. He is survived by his wife Nancy of 42 years and son John, sister in law Joyce McGuire, many nieces and nephews and their children. Bill graduated from Merrimac College, earning a B.S. in Philosophy and then joined the Peace Corps (1964-66) where he was stationed in Peru. After his time in the Peace Corps, while awaiting acceptance in UF graduate school where he later earned a M.Ed. in Latin American Economics and Geography, he taught Peace Corps Training classes at Cornell University. Bill was an intellectual, talented, artistic, fun-loving kind-hearted man. He was the ultimate peace maker. He was employed by Mental Health Systems for 10 years as Director of Renaissance House. He then moved to KSC as EAP Director where he won a Silver Snoopy Award (highest award given by astronauts to civilians). After that he then became a director for at-risk elementary and middle school students for Prevent of Florida. Bill was the ultimate storyteller and his smile was there for everyone, making many friends throughout his life. When he left this world, St. Peter was waiting at the gate saying, “We have a great storyteller coming in.” A celebration of life will be held November 2, at Kelly Park, Merritt Island from 3-6 p.m. in the large pavilion. Bring a lawn chair and your favorite story about Bill. Casual attire is requested. In lieu of flowers, you may donate to your charity of choice in his name. GO GATORS!
