William "Bill" Wallace McTurnal

William Wallace “Bill” McTurnal, 93, passed away January 9, 2016 in Olympia, WA. He was born August 24, 1922 to Charles and Norma (Blake) McTurnal in Tacoma, WA. Over the years, he also lived in Kitsap County, Lacey and Shelton, WA. Bill graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1941, and received an AA from Olympic College in Bremerton, WA. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from August 1943 to March 1946, and married Arline L. Olsen on September 9, 1945 in Bremerton. Professionally, Bill worked in the U.S. Civil Service, Department of Defense with the U.S. Navy from 1941 to 1978, including at Subic Bay Naval Base in the Republic of Philippines, and Washington D.C. Bill was known for his humor, honesty, intelligence, loyalty, and loving manner. He wrote stories and poetry, and enjoyed reading, gardening, fitness and golf. He was a member of the Masonic fraternal organization. He is survived by his sons, William Bryce McTurnal and wife Janet, and Douglas Bruce McTurnal and his wife Pho Choo; daughter, Janice Johanna Goldman; nine grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Arline (9/10/2008); son-in-law, Martin Goldman (10/15/2015); brother, George Kline (1994); and sisters, Lorna Kayser (1978) and husband Scottie, and Barbara Kline.
