William E Merlo of West Point, CA, passed away Saturday, May 24, 2014 at the age of 70. He was born in San Francisco, CA on July 4, 1943 to the late Ernest and Martha Merlo. William was a veteran and served in the U.S. Navy. He was well known in Calaveras County as he owned Merlo's Pizza and also Buckhorn Liquors for many years, where he worked hard and made many friends. Bill was a lover of fishing, animals, and cars and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his son, Donald Merlo of West Point and daughter, Denise Williams of Livermore. At the family's request there will be no services. Donations in honor of Bill may be made to Esophageal Cancer Education Foundation at www.fightec.org
