William F. Muise
May 14th, 1918 - November 14th, 2010
"Belchertown - William F. Muise, 92, of Chauncey Walker St., passed away on November 14, 2010 at Mary's Meadow in Holyoke. He was born May 14, 1918 in Wakefield, MA, son of John and Fannie Muise. Bill was a WWII U.S. Marine Corps 4th Division Veteran and earned the Purple Heart in the Battle of Iwo Jima. After the war he served as a police officer in Gardner, MA for 8 years. William retired in 1980, as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service where he worked for over 25 years. He was an active communicant of St. Francis Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus for 27 years. He served as Grand Knight of the Indian Orchard K of C, Council 160. Bill was the founder and past Grand Knight of the St. Francis of Assisi, K of C Council in Belchertown and also served as the District Deputy of the K of C for four years. He was a member of the Archbishop Williams Assembly, Fourth Degree, K of C. He was fondly called "Monsignor" by many of his K of C friends because of his sincere dedication to his church and the K of C. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Helen (Sadowski) Muise and his five daughters, Patricia Donnelly and husband David of Longmeadow, Jeanne Bennis of Chicopee, Barbara Sharry and husband Mark of Derry, NH, Marilyn Dion of Chicopee and Donna Muise of N. Stonington, CT. He also leaves four stepchildren Carl Robitaille and wife Jane of Springfield, Donald Robitaille of Lee, Paul Robitaille and wife Eileen of Hampden and Nancy Piesz of Belchertown. A sister Alice Hawley of Reno, NV, eleven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren will also miss him. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Saturday at 9:15 am, and then proceed to a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis Church, Belchertown. Burial will follow in the South Cemetery, Belchertown. Calling hours will be Friday, November 19, 2010 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm at the Beers & Story Funeral Home, 10 Maple Street, Belchertown. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis Church Building Fund, Park St., Belchertown, MA 01007. "
