William "Bill" E. O’Brien
William E. “Bill” O’Brien passed away due to congestive heart failure on April 29, 2014 in Elma, Washington, at the age of 89. He was born September 4, 1924, to John and Susan O’Brien in Washington, Iowa. Bill graduated from North English (Iowa) High School in 1943, and joined the U.S. Navy shortly thereafter. He married Helen M. Burghduff in Seattle, Washington, on July 26, 1946. Bill was very outgoing and knew everyone within a very short time. Professionally, he worked in sales management for Gerber Baby Foods for more than 20 years. He also was a member of St. Edwards Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Helen M. (Burghduff) O’Brien; son, Patrick Jon O’Brien; daughter, Janice Marie (O’Brien) Garcia; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and sister, Ellen Gerard. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, John, Edmund, Hugh, Joe, and Lawrence P. O’Brien; sisters, Pauline, Frances, Mary, Elavene, and Ann; son, Michael Eugene O’Brien; and grandson, Nicholas Riley O’Brien.
