PAIGE, William E., 63, of Tampa, Florida, passed away Monday, March 14, 2011 under the care of Hospice in Temple Terrace, Florida. William was born August 3, 1947 in McKeesport, PA. He was a brilliant child, free spirited and curious about everything. William was active in many organizations for the youth of McKeesport. He was a member of the Boys and Girls Club, Junior Achievement and the YMCA. William was a participant in Little League Baseball and was very adept at playing the game. His peers nicknamed him "Satch" after a great baseball player in the National Negro League. William attended McKeesport High School in McKeesport, PA and graduated with honors. While attending high school he played basketball and it was said that he ruled the court with grace and finess. After graduation William attended the school of X-ray Techology at McKeesport Hospital, and was hired by the hospital for their X-ray Department. Shortly after William was drafted into the military. He chose to enlist in the U.S. Army for a period of three years and received numerous awards for his service. It was at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas that he met Sheryl, his wife of forty years who was also active duty in the military. It was love at first sight and they were married 9 months later in the beautiful memorial chapel on post, September 3, 1970. At the end of his tour of duty William returned to McKeeport with Sheryl and returned to work at McKeesport Hospital. It was there that he was recruited by a representative for General Electric Medicals Systems Division to become a Bio-Medical Field Service Engineer for their company. He moved with G.E. to South Carolina and then to Florida. William attended the University of South Carolina specializing in Health Science and DeVry University studying security management. He has always been active in church wherever he and his family were living. William was especially fond of serving in television, family and men's ministry. He held key positions in Promise Keepers Men's Ministry, Florida Men of Integrity and Mens Coalition of Ministry. William was ordained into the ministry on Sunday, September 18, 2005. Upon his death, William was employed by Raytheon Corporation in Largo, FL. He will be missed by his friends and coworkers at his workplace. William was the son of Henry and Willie Mae Paige who preceded him in rest. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Sheryl and his daughter, Sonya Anila. Also missing him will be his sisters, Dollie Mae Parker, Gail Greathouse and Cornelia Brown Jones; his brothers, DeWayne Paige, Bobby Paige and Henry Paige who always looked up to their older brother will miss him dearly. His brother-in-law and dear friend, James Greathouse will feel the absence and miss him as well. He also leaves cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and good friends everywhere. William truly touched the lives and hearts of many people. So we say to William "Rest in Peace". Memorial Service for William Elliott Paige will be 10 AM Friday, March 25, 2011 at Faith Outreach Center, Tampa (813) 887-3354
