William C. Pelham

Clewiston Fire Marshall William C. "Bo" Pelham, Jr age 58 of Clewiston, passed away at 9:10 p.m. on Thursday, June 17, 2010. Bo, as he was known to all who knew him, was born August 25, 1951 in Pahokee, Florida, the son of William C. "Bill" Pelham Sr. and Florilla Christine Brown Pelham. He married Sandra Rhymes in Clewiston on March 18, 2000, she survives. Bo was a longtime member of the Clewiston Elks Lodge #1853, holding several local offices. He was an exalted leader for the lodge and also served as a District and State Committee Chairman. Bo joined the Clewiston Fire Department in 1974, working his way up to Fire Marshall in 1983 where he served until his passing. He was a member of the Hendry County Hunting Club and held offices of Secretary and Treasurer. Bo also served as a Hendry County Commissioner for 12 years and was chairman of the board for several years. He also worked as Code Enforcement Officer for the City of Clewiston for many years. Bo was Eastern Hendry County Emergency Management Director. He was a member of Sugarland Lodge #1281 F&AM in Clewiston and the Scottish Rite Bodies Valley of Fort Myers, Bo was a member of both the Florida Highway Patrol Auxiliary and the Hendry County Sheriff Auxiliary. Bo is survived by his loving wife of ten years, Sandra of Clewiston, his father William C. "Bill" Pelham, Sr. of Clewiston, brothers; Curtis I Pelham, Wilbern R. Pelham, sister; Waynette Harris and one step-daughter, Claudia Perkins, one step granddaughter; Emilee Perkins and many close friends. Services celebrating Bo's life were held Wednesday, June 23, 2010, at 10 A.M. in the John B. Boy Auditorium in Clewiston where Rev. George Bryant officiated. Members of Clewiston Fire Department were pallbearers. Visitation was held Tuesday, June 22, 2010 in the Akin-Davis Funeral Home in Clewiston from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Interment followed in Ridgelawn Cemetery. Arrangements are by Akin-Davis Funeral Home.
