William Stanley Pilgrim
June 18th, 1921 - August 1st, 2010
William Stanley Pilgrim passed away quietly at Seminole Nursing Pavillion on Sunday, August 1st, 2010. Fresh out of high school, he went to work at Porter Cable. During the war he served with the United States Navy as a tail gunner. Following the war he worked for Remington in the air-conditioning plant in Auburn, New York. However, most of his career (more than 20 years) was spent designing medical and surgical instruments for Welch Allyn in Skaneateles Falls, New York. He holds many patents and in 2006 was installed as an inaugural member of the Welch Allyn Hall of Fame. He gave generously to his community with both his time and his energy especially to the Port Byron United Methodist Church and to the education system. He was always "fussing" about at the cottage in Muskoka, Ontario, and at the camp in Thendara, New York. Bill enjoyed playing golf no matter where he was. He was a member of the Tides Golf Club in Seminole, Florida and a charter member of the Thendara Golf Club in Thendara, New York He also enjoyed ten pin bowling and taking his chances at the casino. He travelled to many places such as The Bahamas, Jamaica, Alaska, England and Scotland. He sailed numerous cruises to many places worldwide. He settled down with his wife Doris in Seminole, Florida to enjoy the sun and the sea for as long as possible. He will be lovingly remembered by his family and friends.
