William "Billy" Wesley Quick
May 6th, 1951 - June 16th, 2021
Macon, GA- William Wesley “Billy” Quick, 70, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 16, 2021. A Memorial Service is scheduled for Saturday, July 10, 2021 12:00 Noon in the chapel of Heritage Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory. A visitation scheduled for Saturday from 11:00 AM to 12:00PM, one hour before the service. Billy was born May 6, 1951 in Warner Robins to the late John W. Quick and the late Willie D. Carpenter Owens. Back in the early days, Billy was a Race Car driver for Quick Racing in the Late Model Sportsman Series and then went on to graduate from Northside High School where he played Running Back. He was #33 in both sports. Billy earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Georgia Southwestern College. While attending college in Americus, he played softball and also harvested peanuts for former President Jimmy Carter. After college, Billy pursued Special Education teaching and coached football at Tabor Jr. High School, Northside High School, Moultrie High School, and Appling County High School. Later in life, Billy worked and retired as a Technician at Brown & Williamson. Billy enjoyed the “Country Side of Life” where he would hunt and fish with family and friends. He raised cattle in South Bibb County up until the Flood of ’94. Billy was passionate about sports, but he especially enjoyed his time playing, coaching, and watching football. He was an avid fan of the Northside Eagles and the University of Georgia Bulldogs. Over the years Billy was able to stay close with many of his former coaches, teammates, and players. Billy also enjoyed watching NASCAR Motor Sports and was a fan and dear friend of the Allison family. Finally, Billy had an ear and love for music throughout his life and always had The Allman Brothers Band or The Marshall Tucker Band playing in his Shop. Billy was loved by many and will be missed by all that knew him. In addition to his parents, Billy’s sisters: Shirley Knowles and Michelle Owens; and wife, Virgie Gibbons precede him in death. Billy is survived by his sister, Gail Saucier (Jerry) of Rossville; son, Kevin Selph (Pam) of Kathleen; step-daughter, Gail Davidson (Mike) of Gray; step-son, Paul Higdon, Jr. of Kentucky; three grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
