William Douglas Ransom
April 29th, 1944 - June 12th, 2015
William Douglas Ransom was born on April 29, 1944 in Oroville, California, son of Sybil and the late William L. Ransom. He was a Yuba County resident for over 46 years. Doug served in the Unites States Navy in Guam-Adak, Alaska as an electronic technician. He worked as a correctional officer in Live Oak. Some hobbies included; Boy Scouts, camping, history, was part of the Board on the Planning Committee of Marysville and spending time with family. He also served in the LDS Church in many callings. Doug attended Marysville High School. He was well respected in the community and will be missed and remembered fondly by his family and friends. He was gracious, loving and kind that saw the positive in everything while dedicating his life to serving others. Doug is survived by his mother Sybil Ransom, of Auburn, his wife of 48 years, Susan Ransom of Olivehurst, daughter Nancy (Stuart) Leong of Houston, Texas, son Stephen (Nicole) Ransom of Yuba City. He also leaves behind three brothers: David (Kathy) Ransom, Dewey (Carmela) Ransom, Guy (Charlene) Ransom, two sisters: Rita (Butch) Ritter and Ruth (Stephen) Rodriguez, as well as six grandchildren: William Blake, Holly, Cody, Lauren, Stephen Jr., and Chase, one great-grandson Iean, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins. There will be a viewing at 9:00 am and memorial services will be held on Friday June 19, 2015, 10:00 am at LDS Church, Marysville Chapel, 1997 N. Beale Road, Marysville, CA, 95901. Final resting will be at Sierra View Cemetery. -
