William Reedy
March 2nd, 1929 - September 14th, 2012
A private committal has been arranged for Bill Reedy who passed away peacefully at Driftwood Convalescent Home in Santa Cruz on September 14, 2012, with his loving family at his bedside. Born in Tacoma, Washington, he was 83 years old. Bill served his country in the US Navy and was stationed in Hawaii where he and his beloved wife Kathleen were married in Kahuku 60 years ago. Upon his discharge from the Navy in 1953, the couple moved to Santa Cruz where Bill began a career as a fire fighter with the Santa Cruz Fire Department that spanned over 30 years. He retired from the fire department having attained the rank of Battalion Chief. Bill was an avid fisherman his entire life. Many family memories will be cherished from the fishing adventures at Lake Siskiyou, Topaz Lake and the Mattole River. He and Kathy enjoyed traveling most of the western United States, pulling their trailer, roaming the back roads and seeking out the most scenic routes to the best hidden fishing spots. Bill loved to consort daily with his friends. former firemen, police, and retired businessmen, where all would meet at Marianne's Ice Cream Parlor. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Reedy of Santa Cruz; son and daughter in-law, Mike and Janet Reedy of Watsonville; and his daughters and sons in-law, Patty and Kenny Sapone and Colleen and Dave Iermini all of Santa Cruz. Bill also leaves his three grandchildren, Jessica and Brian Reedy and Will Iermini; his brother and sister in-law, Robert and Donna Reedy of Pinole; and his sister Bonnie Edmondson of Lafayette. "Uncle" Bill is also survived by his sister-in-law Marilyn Jacopi, cousins Syd and Joyce Raineri and many cherished nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother James Reedy of San Francisco. Bill's family would like to give special thanks to the nurses and staff at Driftwood in Santa Cruz, for the comfort and care that he received. He left us peacefully and we will forever remember the calmness of his passing. Please make any kind acts of charity in Bill's name to Hospice of Santa Cruz County (940 Disc Dr. Scotts Valley, CA. 95066) To light a candle, sign the on-line guest book, and share your thoughts with his family, please visit www.pacificgardenschapel.com
