In Loving Memory

William “Bill” S. Repp, 90, of Rotonda West, FL, passed away on May 17, 2024. He was born in Waukegan, IL, to William Selenak and Bernice Kubaitis in December 1933. His father died in 1935. Bill lived in the Waukegan, Gurnee, and Beach Park, IL, area, graduating from Zion-Benton High School in 1951.

Bill was married to the late Carol (Green) for 26 years. His second wife, Dolly (Bailey), passed away in 2018 after 33 years of marriage.

He graduated from Northwestern University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering in 1959, after beginning with American Can Company in Waukegan in 1951. He moved up through positions in New Orleans, New Jersey, and New York to the Greenwich, CT, headquarters as Chief Engineer of Packaging Systems. He received a patent for the design of a 2000-per-minute can feeding machine and initiated the design search for high-speed printing of codes and dates on containers. This led to an inkjet unit design now used around much of the world. In 1972, he was selected to participate with an American Can technical team to make presentations across the Soviet Union. Further assignments led to worldwide travels.

Bill joined Bliss Division of Gulf and Western in 1978 as General Manager of Packaging Machinery in Hastings, MI, followed by a position as Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Brown Machine in Beaverton, MI. In 1984, he joined Means Industries, an automotive parts manufacturer in Saginaw, MI. After 13 years with Means, he retired in 1998 as a Vice President and Officer of the company.

Bill enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening. He and Dolly were active in boating on the Great Lakes and were members of Saginaw Bay Yacht Club in Bay City, MI. They enjoyed their combined family of nine children, 23 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

In 2004, they returned to Hastings from Bay City, MI, and continued as Florida snowbirds before moving permanently to their Florida home in 2013.

Bill was a life member of both Rotonda Fl Elks and Rotonda VFW. He also belonged to the Englewood Eagles and Moose Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his mother, stepfather Anthony Repp, daughter Connie Lahring, grandson Travis Repp, and brother Michael Repp. He is survived by sons Larry (Susan) of North Wales, PA, Dan (Tamina) of Ocala, FL, Scott of Grand Haven, MI, John (Stephanie) of Hastings, MI, and daughter Karen (Gordon) Finnie of Belmont, MI, and a brother Steven (Debbie) Repp of Galena, IL. Stepchildren Michael and Renee Adams of Newton, NC, and Debbie (Bill) Moore of Coshocton, OH.
