William D Robey 78, St Petersburg Florida, formerly of Maryland, succumbed to heart failure at Kindred Hospital of St Petersburg Florida surrounded by his loving family on April 19, 2020. Bill was born at Providence Hospital in Washington DC on September 29, 1941, he was the son of the late George and Ada Beckwith Robey. Bill is survived by his loving wife Kathy of 57 years, loving sons Bill Robey Junior, Dwayne Robey and wife Sue Robey, Darryl Robey and wifeTeresa Robey, and twin daughters Dawn Lorraine and Shawn Renee( deceased) in heaven. Also, we would like to include his oldest brother George Robey wife Martha, Carol and Danny Crawford, Brenda McCrae, and brother Anthony Robey and wife Lynn Robey. Bill graduated from Bladensburg High School, Bladensburg, Maryland in 1960 and then married his love of his life Kathy Ann Jennings. Bill was a loving husband and a loving father & a friend to everyone. Bill loved all sports, especially baseball and football. His favorite team's was the Baltimore Orioles and Washington Redskins. He worked as a cashier at the A&P Tea Company, from there he worked at the Maryland Park and Planning Commission as a patrolman and mounted unit. His horse's name was Trojan. Then he was a guard at NASA in Greenbelt Maryland. After moving to Florida he worked at Frank's florist and a few part-time jobs before retiring. A special thank you to the people that took care of him at Kindred Hospital of St. Petersburg, Florida which was Dr.Carson and Doctor Fuller and the wonderful nursing staff for their loving care and support during his final days. Also, the family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude toward David C. Gross Funeral Home and Crematory for being very accommodating and understanding during this difficult time. ( Lisa Lustig for going the extra mile for our family). Our mom, his wife would like to say a few words about our dad: " Bill fought a good fight and completed his journey on Earth. He prepared himself for heaven by accepting Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior as God has ordained us to do. He was prepared for heaven before his last day here on Earth. This was his graduation day. Shared his love for Jesus with everyone he met. Even though his health was getting worse he shared the love of Jesus to the end of his life here. This is what has given our family the peace that we are feeling even in this difficult time. In conclusion we would like to share the following poem: The title is "Death opens the door to Life Evermore. We live a short while on earth below, reluctant to die for we do not know what " Dark Death" it's all about And so we view it with fear and doubt not certain of what is around the bend We look on death as the final end To all that made us a mortal being And yet there lies just beyond our seeing A beautiful life so full and complete That we should leave with hurrying feet To walk with God by sacred streams Amid beauty and peace beyond our dreams---- For all who believe in the RISEN LORD Have been assured of this reward, And death for them is just "graduation" To a higher realm of wide elevation------ For life on Earth is a Transient affair, Just a few brief years in which to prepare For a life that is free from pain and tears Where time is not counted by hours or years------ For death is only the method God chose To colonize heaven with the souls of those Who by their apprenticeship on Earth Proved worthy to dwell in the land of New Birth------ So death is not sad......it's a time for elation, A joyous transition......the soul's emigration Into a place where the soul's SAFE and FREE To live with God through ETERNITY! For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, the principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38, 39 The care of William and his family have been entrusted to David C. Gross Funeral Home in St. Petersburg
