William H. Rodgers Sr. March 28, 1926 - September 18, 2012 William H. "Bill" Rodgers Sr., of Syracuse, passed away on Tuesday, September 18, 2012. He was born on March 28, 1926, in Utica, New York to John and Hannah Jones Rodgers. He was a World War II veteran of the US Navy, having served on the USS Orestes. He retired in 1988 after 16 years with Glomac Plastics, Inc. Prior to that, he was employed by General Electric Co. He was a member of the East Syracuse American Legion and the GE Foreman's Association. At the age of 86, Bill was actively golfing in the Mulligan's Golf League with his sons. Bill is survived by his wife of 54 years, Rose Lewandowski Rodgers; four sons, William H. Jr. (Kathy) of Camillus, Michael D. (Summer) of Lafayette, Joseph J. (Karen) of East Syracuse and David T. (Susan) of Baldwinsville; ten grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 22, 2012, at A. Dewitt Memorial Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 4612 South Salina Street, Syracuse, New York. Services will immediately follow at 8:00 p.m at the funeral home. Contributions may be made in Bill's memory to the Syracuse VA Medical Center, Attention: Voluntary Services, 800 Irving Avenue, Syracuse, NY 13210.
