William Jacob "Jake" Sherer Sr.
October 12th, 1933 - June 16th, 2013
William Jacob "Jake" Sherer, Sr., 79, of Payette, passed away Sunday, June 16, 2013. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, June 20th at Riverside Cemetery, Payette followed by a celebration of life at his home in Payette. Services and arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette. Condolences may be made to Jake's family at www.shaffer-jensenchapel.com. Jake was born Oct. 12, 1933 in Los Angeles, CA to Sam and Erma (Angeloni) Sherer. He graduated from Payette High School in 1951. On June 12, 1953 he married Betty Delores Forsdick. Jake worked at Manser Ford as a mechanic for 20+ years then in 1975 he started working for the Payette School District; after 29 years he retired as the Transportation Supervisor on July 1, 2003. During that time he won the Bus Transportation Supervisor of the Year Award in the State of Idaho. For 50 years he ran the Los Altos Irrigation District. He loved his grandkids and family, coached Little League for many years, and was always willing to help anyone at any time. Jake was also an avid outdoorsman; enjoying hunting, fishing, and 4-wheeling with friends. Jake is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty Sherer; his children, William "Bill" Sherer, Jr. (Diane), Cynthia "Cindy" Tudor (Larry), Patrica "Patty" Casteel (Steve), Robert "Bob" Sherer (Marcie), and Kathy "Kat" Sherer (Angela Dirk); his sister, Sally Hoskins; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Wally Sherer. Memorials may be made to PCRD Little League, c/o Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, P.O. Box 730, Payette, ID 83661. Service Details.
