William Edward Spaulding
July 8th, 1923 - March 6th, 2021
Born in Hamilton, Ohio. Graduate of Fairfield High School, Fairfield, Ohio and Washington University, Washington, DC. Served in the U.S. Navy, 1942-1952, as Pharmacist’s Mate 2nd Class, on the USS Bevin, USS Chauncey, and in the Reserves at Bethesda Naval Hospital. Served in the regions of Asiatic Pacific Area, Philippine Liberation, received Victory Medal WW II, Good Conduct Medal. Bill retired as Business Manager from Mercy Hospital, Hamilton Ohio. In 1982, Bill and Gladys moved to South Pasadena, Florida. He immersed himself in volunteering at Florida International Museum, Mahaffey Theatre, Dali Museum, and Palms of Pasadena Hospital. In 2001, the City of St. Petersburg honored William Spaulding as Volunteer of the Year in special recognition of outstanding commitment to the Mahaffey Theatre. In 2010 Bill was honored for donating 25 years at Palms of Pasadena Hospital. Preceded in death by parents, Dorothy Spangenberger Spaulding and Clarence Spaulding; brothers, Robert Spaulding (Ann) and Richard Spaulding; sister, Jean Strode (Richard); wife, Doris Elaine (Cockerill) Spaulding; children, Sharon Lee Spaulding, Wayne Martin Spaulding; wife, Gladys (Eschenbrenner) Spaulding. Survived by his daughter, Sharlee (Jim) Osborn, granddaughter, Megan (Jack) Williams; grandson Matthew (Kim) Osborn, great-grandson Carson Osborn; sister-in-law, Sue Spaulding, several nieces and nephews; step-son, Mick (Darlene) Eschenbrenner and their family. Interment at Arlington National Cemetery, date to be determined.
