William "Whit" Spearman

William "Whit" Spearman, 87, of Charlotte passed away on November 14, 2021.He was a native Charlottean, born on September 19, 1934 to James and Mildred Spearman. He graduated from Central High School and Duke University. He then served in the U.S. Coast Guard in New Orleans. Upon returning to Charlotte, he owned and operated Charlotte Rental Properties until his retirement. He and his wife of almost sixty-one years have been residing at Matthews Glen. He is survived by his wife Arlene. He is also survived by his children, David Spearman, Laura Hull (Ed), and Catherine Blottman (Tom); his grandchildren, Eddie Hull (fianc, Cassidy Campbell), Whit Hull, and Jane Blottman. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Will Blottman, and his brothers, James and Walter. He enjoyed fishing and golfing, but was happiest when he was with his family at either the beach, mountains, or Lake Norman. The family would like to thank the staff at Willow Brook Court for the love and care shown to him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:15 A.M. Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church. Family will receive friends afterward for a light lunch in the parish hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Vincent dePaul Society, 6828 Old Reid Road, Charlotte, NC 28210.
