William Edward Swanson “Bill,” age 81, was born in Detroit, Michigan on July 14, 1941. Bill moved to Stratton, Colorado which he considered home for several years. In 1992, he and his family moved to Greeley, Colorado - where he left this life April 4, 2023, surrounded by the love of his family. Bill enjoyed many of life’s blessings; traveling with his wife, watching the Dallas Cowboys and the Chicago Cubs, going to the movies and eating ice cream with his grandkids, family gatherings involving all his children, and golfing, fishing, and playing cards with friends. Bill was known for his expertise in carpentry, building houses, outdoor furniture, and laying cement, having turned a career into a hobby. Besides Bill’s love of his family, he also cherished the time he spent serving in the US Navy, where he was honorably discharged in 1962 after serving 3 years. He enjoyed reminiscing with family and friends about his endeavors while abroad. Bill was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was married to Linda Storrer for 60 years. He is survived by his wife Linda, his two daughters, Darla (Mike) Stieb and Wendi (Scott) Inloes, and his son Mitch (Joan) Swanson. He is lovingly known as “Papa,” to his five grandchildren, Makayla Stieb, Blake and Jack Swanson, and Paige and Shelbe Inloes. He is preceded in death by his father, Gene Swanson, his mother, Mary Ann Hendrickson, and his sister Nedra Ann Pierce. Bill will be remembered as the meticulous neighbor with the great yard and ability to make friends anywhere with his tongue-in-cheek sense of humor. He taught his family to love one another and always be there for each other, even when the Cowboys are on. A celebration of life will be held May 28 at 1 pm at 421 N 78th Avenue, Greeley, Colorado. Final resting spot and memorial service will be held June 3 from 1-5 pm in Stratton, Colorado at the Thompson Residence. In lieu of memorial donations may be given to “St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital” in care of Adamson, 2000 47th Ave., Greeley, CO 80634. Condolences may be shared at AdamsonCares.com. “And now the end is here, and so I face that final curtain. My friend I’ll make it clear, I’ll state my case of which I’m certain. I’ve lived a life that’s full. I traveled each and every highway, and more, much more. I did it, I did it my way,” -Frank Sinatra, “My Way.”
