William "Bill" Thomas Tighe
April 18th, 1940 - July 5th, 2016
WILLIAM (BILL) THOMAS (TOM) TIGHE Born April 18, 1940 in Woburn, MA to William and Sophie Tighe and passed away peacefully on July 5, 2016 in Tacoma WA after a recurrence of lymphoma.Bill served 23 years in the US Army retiring in 1986 as SFC E-7, with duty stations in Turkey, Thailand, Berlin and Augsburg, Germany as well as stateside assignments at Arlington Hall Station, Virginia, Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland and Ft Lewis, Washington. He worked at Western State Hospital for 29 years as a baker and cook 2. He worked several years in food service at Cheney Stadium and the Tacoma Dome and the Ft Lewis and McChord Commissaries as a vendor stocker. He enjoyed baking and decorating character cakes for special occasions, bowling for over 40 years and taking the grandkids to the ocean. He is survived by his wife of 49 years Carolee; daughter Lara (Tom) Hacker, Lakewood, grandchildren Jessica Tighe, Puyallup, TJ Hacker, Tacoma, and SP4 Michael Hacker, serving overseas; great grandchildren Jordan Copley and Miley Holland; brothers Eugene (Mary) Tighe, Winchester MA, Dennis (Kathy) Tighe, Tewksbury MA and sister Maureen (Kurt) von Fritzinger, Woburn MA and several nieces and nephews in MA and MT. Viewing will be Friday July 15 5-8 PM at Edwards Memorial Lakewood, 11020 S Tacoma Way, Lakewood, WA 98499. Graveside services will be Monday July 18 2-2:30 PM at Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 SE 240th St, Kent WA 98042.
