William Jay Utley

William Jay Utley of Yuba City, CA, was born on March 27, 1931 in Galena, Ohio and passed away on September 7, 2015 at his residence. Bill died peacefully in his sleep after battling congestive heart for several months. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Rae Utley and their children William Utley of The Woodlands, Texas, Tracey Fukui of Farmingon Hills, Michigan, and Laura Williams of Sutter. Bill served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He attended Chico State University where he obtained his Teaching Credentials. He later earned his Masters Degree in science from Michigan State University. He coauthored books used in high school biology classes in the United States and a number of other countries. Bill taught life science at Yuba City High School for thirty years. He was respected by his fellow teachers and many of his students developed a life long friendship with him. He was a member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church and was a volunteer for hospice for many years. Bill will be missed everyday by his family and many friends. A memorial service will be held at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Yuba City on September 16, 2015 at noon. In lieu of flowers, a contribution may be made to the charity of your choice .
