William Roger Wagner, known to friends as Pete, passed away late Wednesday night. Pete was born in Lewistown, Pennsylvania on May 20, 1939 and lived the majority of his life in the Bay Area. After serving in the US Marine Corp as a Lance Corporal for six years, Pete went on to join the US Army Reserves, retiring as a Master Sergeant in 1999. Pete was a long term San Francisco Municipal Railway employee, retiring in 1997. He loved to tell stories of his over 30 years as a Muni Streetcar driver. Pete was full of energy around others and loved to make them laugh and feel welcome. He loved his classic war and western movies, favoring John Wayne and Roy Rogers films, but wouldnt be opposed to the occasional musical or Disney film. He had a passion for college football as well as basketball, collecting memorabilia and watching games whenever he could. While Pete last lived in San Lorenzo, he called Hawaii home, traveling there whenever possible and dreaming of the day he would live there. Pete is survived by his wife of 40 years, Purita, and his two daughters, Andrea Cattarin, and Leilani Wagner. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Northern California Alzheimers Association at www.alz.org/norcal Memorial Mass Wednesday, August 21, 2019 10:30 am Saint Joachim Catholic Church 21250 Hesperian Blvd Hayward CA 94541
